Minutes for April 9, 2002

Kristi Logan called the meeting to order at 6:38 p.m.

 

Roll was called.

 

Bill Covey moved to accept last week’s minutes pending corrections.  Jess Mikes seconded.  Motion passed.

 

Treasurer’s report (Bill Covey)

We have $1807.45 in General and $1169.52 in Service.

 

1st VP (Kelli-Beth Conway)

There are blood drive tables this week.

Blood Drive is next week, 4/15-4/19.

Bingo is this Thursday.

Sorry to the pledges for the campus cleanup getting cancelled.  We’ll come up with another project.

Helen Scanlen from the Windham Hospital is holding the April orientation 4/23.  It’s a Tuesday from 3-5 p.m. 

Run/Walk is Sunday 4/21.  Meet at the Student Union at 9:30 a.m.  Eat before you come.

President (Kristi Logan)

There is a meeting April 23rd to get funding from USG for next semester.

Elections are coming up.  No one on academic probation can become an officer.

 

Scouting Liaison (Ua Machnik)

The Goodwin Campout is next weekend.  See Ua for a list of items to bring, such as warm clothes, rain gear, hygiene kit, zip lock bags, etc. 

 

Recording Secretary (Lexie Bush)

Thank you to everyone who volunteered at the Leukemia Triathlon.  Received a letter from Charlie, says thank you to all volunteers.

Run walk (Kelli-Beth Conway)

Meet at the student union at 9:30 a.m. on 4/21.

If someone wants to plan it, we can all meet for breakfast in South before.

Registration forms are made.

Meeting on Thursday 4/11 at 5:30 in Jonathan’s.  All are welcome.  Please get dinner before 5:30.

 

Conclave (Kim Usselman and Jess Mikes)

UVM Conclave is this weekend.  There are still 3 open spots.

Jess is giving a presentation at the UVM Conclave about our Fall 2002 Conclave.  Logo has been made. 

 

Husky (Chelsea Dowe)

Congratulations to Lori and Meg for becoming handlers.

Thanks Jess for helping at the Parade in Hartford.  Jonathan was great at the parade.

This Sunday, 4/14 we are making the chocolate lollipops at 3 p.m. at Karin’s apartment.

 

Fellowship (Kim Usselman)

Ooze ball is $10 a person for Spring Weekend.

Nascar Race is 5/27 in North Carolina.  $20 a ticket.  You will also need to pay for food and gas.  We will probably stay with Mike T.

 

Fundraising

USG gave us 2 booths for the Spring Fling Carnival on Saturday night of Spring Weekend.  We need 2 people at each booth at all times.  Must be sober to work at the booth.  It’s all night and it is pure profit.  Money will help out with Conclave. 

The carnival is outside.  If you work a booth you receive an entry bracelet for the carnival/concert for free.  Doors open at 8:30 and it closes at 2 a.m.

 

New idea:  To sell condomgrams.  Start selling 2 weeks before spring weekend and deliver them the Wednesday before spring weekend.  Pure Profit. If you have issues with this please talk to Jess.

 

Banquet (Chelsea Dowe)

We will start selling tickets next week.  It’s on Saturday 5/4 at the Crowne Plaza in Hartford.  $35 for Brothers and Pledges and $45 for everyone else.

 

Old Business

Jess and Kim want to propose bringing in a 3rd Vice President for E-board in charge of fellowship, planning a retreat, overseeing all brother’s ideas for fellowship, etc. 

 

Amendments to the proposal:

Meg Oehler moved to amend Policy #36 changing, “All Brothers are required to chair at least one fellowship event each semester” to “All Brothers are required to chair at least one fellowship event every 2 active semesters.”  Jess seconded.  Motion passed.

 

Jess Mikes moved to amend Policy #36 from “It will be the Fellowship Project Chair’s job to inform the chapter at least 2 weeks prior to the event about the event, …” to “It will be the Fellowship Project Chair’s job to inform the chapter at a weekly scheduled brotherhood meeting about the event.  Kim seconded.  Motion passed.

Meg Oehler moved to remove the sentence, “Brothers will be asked to choose a month that they would like to chair their fellowship event…” from Policy #36.  Chelsea seconded.  Motion denied.

 

Meg Oehler moved to include, under Article III-duties of the offers, that the Fellowship VP must approve all projects.  Jess seconded.  Motion denied.

 

Vote was taken, with amendments, to add a 3rd VP to E-board.  Motion denied. 

 

Service Book.

 

New Business

Jess Mikes moved to spend up to $90 on Run/Walk prizes.  Chelsea seconded.  Motion passed.

The Pledge service project meets at the Student Union 4/10-4/12 (Wednesday – Friday).  It’s from 1:30-4:30.  A driver is needed for Thursday to South Windsor.
